Listening to Goblinsmoker is like having the Toad King Himself sitting on my chest, with His goblin minions peeling off the skin from my face with rusty, little knives and gouging my eyes out. He then spits acid into my bleeding eye sockets and lets me rot, because I'm not worthy of being smoked in His Unholy Cauldronpipe.
What a delight!

Brought to the earth, from the stars
Goblin smoke, rises up
Goblin smoke, fills the air
Feeding their minds, for the King
Toad King
Worship him
Lord of all, smoking lands
Ruling with, a great gift
Awaiting the one
Goblin smoke, rises up
Shaman is calling me
Time to leave this world behind
Smoke of death
Burning flames, ground remains
Freedoms found, through the void
Death is life
The great sacrifice
The King to, see what be
Through the haze
Dark visions, futures told
Demise will come to pass
Time to ride
Time has come
Calling me
about
Part one of the ‘Toad King’ trilogy.
Cast out, ruling the forest, smoking his willing goblin subjects.
Toad King, worship him.
The Toad’s Tale:
1. Toad King
We are introduced the king himself, as well as the ritualistic smoking and sacrifice of the goblins. We are looking upon the king from the goblins point of view, nothing but awe and devotion. He is the “lord of the smoking lands” and “brought to the earth, from the stars”.
2. Take the Dead
In a switch around, we get a first glimpse of the kings perspective. He hates this world, and he wants nothing more than to see it burn. However, he finds freedom, for now, by the burning and inhaling of his devote goblin subjects. “Trapped by lore, nothing but hate, freedom found, amongst the dead”.
3. Time to Ride
“Shaman is calling me”. The first hint that the goblins may not just be simply fodder for the fire. Through the haze of burning goblins, the shaman warn the king a great war is coming and stir him, and through him, the goblins from their slumber. He is told of a war against his own kind, the kind that rejected him, the kind that rules this world. With the warnings brought from their poisonous tongues, the king decides he must strike first. “Demise will come to pass, time to ride”.
This album is an absolute banger. The riffs are especially groovy this time, the vocals are amazing, and the overall thing is supercatchy. If I'd have to list one downside, it's that the mix is so bass-heavy that the sound only truely comes into it's right when listened on good headphones or extremely good speakers. On anything less it can sound like the bass drowns the rest of the music out. 9/10 Buzzario
this their most solid release to date, there other records are all insanely brilliant, you should buy them if you enjoy this for sure. keep kicking ass and putting some of the best sludge this decade. Ryan Graham
OMG, late to the party but this is some of the best occult infused doom stoner tackle I've ever heard. Reference points include Sabbath (obvs), especially with the Ozzy-esque vocals but there's also the melodiousness of early Heep mixing with a more contemporary occult rock sound. It starts in the 70's and makes it to the present day. The riffs are huge but it's their way with a hook that elevates this from your average doom/stoner fare. Very wonderful indeed! egg-magoo
